    One thing that I very rarely hear people talk about is Morels and Spruce trees. Even pine trees too. I live in Southern Ontario, and I find a lot of morel mushrooms near Spruce and Pine. If there is a large spruce tree with grass around it, I almost always find a few Morels near that tree. Or checking just on the outskirts or the very inside of a spruce or pine Forest. You won't find the motherload, but I can always count on five or more around a large spruce tree in Short Grass. In my front yard, I have three large Spruce and pine trees and I always end up getting about 30 to 50 Morels each year in my front yard. Here in Southern Ontario, Spruce and Pine, large apple trees, dead and dying elm trees, and I've even found them in Maple and Beech Woods and in Cedar stands. People say cottonwoods, poplars, Shagbark Hickory, but I never have luck in those spots

    I love the video and it's very informative! Except mycelium is not a plant and the mushroom is not going to "grow back" if you cut it. The mycelium will fruit a new mushroom. (like an apple tree fruiting apples) On the other hand, after you cut or pick your mushroom, you should put it in a mesh bag so that the spores can spread while you're walking. The spores become mycelium and, in the right conditions, will fruit more morels. (You can actually start a morel patch of your own this way!) Thanks for sharing your knowledge. :) Happy hunting

    • @Yappography
      @Yappography 2 роки тому

      Glad you enjoyed it and yes We know, just trying to make it easy for people to understand how mycelium works... it is like a "Plant" and the mushroom is a "fruit" of that plant. Also, We just meant the spot overall will produce again, not that the actual stem itself is going to grow anything again.

    Let me stop u there Bub @1:58 .... Before you get ANY BOOKS on mushrooms, get books on trees. Learn your trees b4 anything else (if u don't already) because it's certian trees that create just the right type of substrate that Morels need to exist. You start locating trees, just look down.. it's that simple. Also learn which plants to look for as well, such as May Flower. Trees and plants can be seen from much greater distances then what you're actually looking for

      @@Centannicocktails oh yeah I have dried hundreds of pounds over the years. My favorite way to preserve them is to freeze them though. They won’t last as long but to be honest I usually eat them all quick anyway. You can get about a year or so from freezing them.
